Many people get laptops and use them around their house but that can be less fun than it sounds. Slower and your just as uncomfortable as if you were in your computer chair. Maybe you can watch TV at the same time though. I suggest if you buy a laptop by the smaller and lighter ones, my 15 inch laptop pretty much has to be put on a desk of some sort making pretty much a desktop computer cause it's not very mobile. Get a smaller laptop so that it is very mobile and it will also use less power giving you longer battery use. I say get a Desktop unless you actually need that mobility.
