Reactions to the Gymnastics Meet Posted on February 24th, 2009 by

This past Thursday,  February 19th, the Gustavus gymnastics team hosted their final home meet of the season.  Thebar event was held in Lund Center on the basketball court.  The meet lasted from 7-9 p.m., and a lot of Gusties attended the event.

I was able to make it to the meet, and was once again amazed by the abilities of the Gustavus gymnastics team.  Gymnastics showcases such specialized and unique skills that it is always fun to watch.  I was not alone in my appreciation for the sport last Thursday.  As with most athletic events on campus, there was a huge student turnout for the gymnastics meet.   In fact, some particularly dedicated football players demonstrated their support by wearing short shorts and painting leotards on their chests.  football

It was great to support fellow Gusties at the gymnastics meet, and I am thankful that I am a part of a student body that is proud of its school.  There is a healthy amount of Gustie Pride here, and it makes school, extracurricular activities, and even studying a whole lot of fun.

Hopefully the GAC gymnastics team has success this postseason.  Regardless, the team has given remarkable performances this year that have been enjoyed by many students.
