I survived my first Christmas in Christ Chapel! Posted on December 8th, 2009 by

Well, I did go to last years performance on Saturday afternoon with my family, but this was the first year that I had to opportunity to be a part of this wonderful Gustavus tradition! Not going to lie, after Thanksgiving break things got REALLY intense in the music department as the the Gustavus Choir, Choir of Christ Chapel, Lucia Singers, Gustavus Symphony Orchestra and The Chapel Ringers rehearsed intensely before the big weekend! I never realized how much work really went into it, as I was only an audience member last year, I had no idea how exhausting it is, and how rewarding it feels after every performance when the audience stands and applauds everyone as the ensembles walk out of the chapel. Never before have I been greeted with so many smiles, and even a few teary eyes, all at once. That made all of the hard work and time each person dedicated to being a part of the show well worth it! I can’t wait to find out what next year’s theme will be and which songs our choir will have the opportunity to perform, as well as what the other fantastic ensembles will be performing, but one thing I know for sure, is we’ll be performing in five sold out shows so make sure to get tickets early! It’s a really wonderful and memorable way to kick off the holiday season no matter if you perform in it or watch it, it means something special to everyone who’s a part of it.
