Come and Discover Gustavus on your day off! Posted on January 12th, 2010 by

Every year on Martin Luther King Jr. Day millions of high school students have the day off , and on this particular day the Gustavus Office of Admission host an event for high school students called, “Discover Gustavus”. Because most high school seniors have already applied to colleges most of the students that visit on this day are sophomores and juniors in high school who are just beginning their college search. Throughout the day students and their families have the opportunity to go on a campus tour, check out the first year residence halls, and attend information sessions on everything from athletics, fine arts to financing a college education.

The first time I ever visited Gustavus as a high school junior was on Discover Gustavus Day and it was a really great opportunity for me to get a feel for the campus what college life is like. One of the information sessions my parents and I attended was a “Student Panel” where a first year, sophomore, junior and senior introduced themselves and were able to answer any questions about their experiences at Gustavus. It was great hearing first hand from those students what Gustavus was like and all of the different things they were involved in. If anyone has any interest in visiting Gustavus this visit day is a great introduction to all that Gustavus has to offer and a great place to start your college search and exploration!
