After a nearly two month absence from Gustavus, I am thrilled to be back on campus for Spring semester. New courses, professors, and classmates make each new term a unique challenge.
The first day of class this semester was yesterday, February 9th. For me, my first class (Philosophy of Religion) started at 10:30 a.m. The course is being taught in Lund 208, a classroom I had never been in before. Lund is the athletic facility on campus, and my professor joked that after class we would be required to run laps together. A strange thought for a group of philosophy students.
Next, I went to my Developmental Biology class. I was a bit concerned that I wasn’t going to be extremely interested in the material. However, after only the first few minutes of class, I was sure that I was in for a treat. I am particularly excited about the lab for Developmental Biology. Our first lab will involve sea urchin fertilization. I can’t wait, and I will be sure to include a post about the lab later this week.
My final class for the day was conditioning. It will be a good opportunity to get some extra running in each week before Ultimate Frisbee practice.
So far, the semester is off to a lovely start. I am eager to take full advantage of my last semester at Gustavus.
