It’s that time of year! Posted on December 14th, 2010 by

This morning the professor for our 8am class surprised our drowsy class with bagels, juice and of course coffee! What’s the occasion? It’s the last day of classes for fall semester, meaning Winter/Holiday break is just around the corner! But before then there’s still the issue of final tests and papers and projects to contend with. Thankfully Gustavus offers a variety of different things to help students maintain their sanity during this very stressful time!

Before 24 hour quiet hours resume to allow for extra peaceful studying to take place across campus there’s a “loud hour”. Yep, an hour dedicated to being as loud and obnoxious as you want to be before quiet hours are enforced. So get out the trumpet you haven’t played since elementary school and break out the German death metal because it’s about to get loud! The on campus improv comedy group called LineUs always does a special pre-finals show to get spirits up. Finally Midnight Express happens Wednesday night from 10:00 to midnight. The cafeteria is packed with students and professors enjoying free food and jazz music (provided by the Gustavus Jazz Lab band) and of course a few laughs before finals take place within the following days. All in all it’s a pretty fun time to be a Gustie, despite the heavy workload. Also there’s always plenty of supportto go around campus from fellow students and professors who want to make sure everyone does their absolute best on their finals.

Take time to enjoy the little things in life that make you happy, like free bagels and funny shows like The Office :)

This will be my last blog for a while,

but I have left the job of blogging in very capable hands for the month of January so you will continue to be updated on all the fun things going on at Gustavus for J-term. Until then, have a wonderful break and happy holidays!
