HOW TO GUSTIE
- PACKING LIST: A rain jacket and a winter coat should be at the top of your list! It’s Minnesota, after all.
- GUSTIE LINGO: The Arb: noun, our 125-acre arboretum (nature preserve) located on the south end of campus. Perfect for running, cross country skiing, hammocking, and sometimes just sitting in the grass, looking up at the sky, listening to the birds.
- UNSPOKEN RULE: Gusties wear Gustie Gear like it’s their job. Most days, it feels like more than half of students are sporting a Gustavus-branded piece of clothing. Stock up!
- CAF CREATION: Gustavus logo, meet the waffle. Our waffle irons imprint the Gustie “G” in the middle of your golden masterpiece. If that’s not fancy enough, you can top it with strawberries and whipped cream, or swing by the grill to add chicken tenders for a Southern-inspired meal.
- ACRONYM DEFINED: The Campus Activities Board, a student-run organization that plans lots of events on campus, is referred to as CAB.
AROUND RING ROAD
- LOCAL GEM: Looking for that perfect latte, a refreshing smoothie, or a made-from-scratch cinnamon roll? Visit River Rock Coffee & Tea in the heart of downtown Saint Peter. It’s a Gustie favorite, and owned by an alum! (Helena, Class of 2012.)
- SECRET SPOT: If you listen closely on the first floor of Beck Hall, you might hear the hum of a student saying, “You’ve been listening to…”. It’s coming from our new podcast studio.
- INSTAGRAM: The Gustavus greenhouse had an unmistakable smell this week…Perry the Corpse Flower bloomed!
